	<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{" type="">The Commonwealth Local Government Forum Pacific Project works with local government and other stakeholders in the Pacific region to strengthen local democracy and service delivery capacity of City and Town Councils.<span class="text_exposed_show">As part of an expansion of activities, we are seeking a qualified, energetic and diligent person to provide programme management support to the Project Office based in Suva, Fiji Islands.</span></span><br />

			<title>Staff from Kokopo/Vunamami Urban Local Level Government visit Mt Barker - 18 December 2011</title>

	Kokopo/Vanamami Urban Local-level Government (ULLG) in the East New Britain Province of PNG and Mt. Baker District Council of South Australia are recent partners in the PNG Good Practice Scheme. Recently four officers from Kokopo attended a short intensive training visit to Mt. Baker.</p>

			<title>Gender in local government training of trainers, Samoa - 18 December 2011</title>
			<description>
				<![CDATA[<p>
	Nine national trainers and 22 participants consisting of village council mayors, government women representatives, NGOs and public servants were part of a recent Gender in Local Government (GLG) roll-out workshop in Apia, Samoa. The program was supported jointly by the Commonwealth Local Government Forum Pacific and the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, Samoa.</p>

			<title>Cooperation to boost local government in the Pacific - 04 March 2008</title>

				<![CDATA[<div>The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) and the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) are combining their efforts to meet the challenges that face local governments in the Pacific region.</div>
<div>In acknowledgment of the important role of local government in achieving shared goals, the two regional organisations have decided to enter into a formal cooperation agreement. </div>
<div>
<div>Pacific Island states are undergoing a systematic process of growth and development which has been accompanied by an accelerated pace of urbanisation and the two organisations believe that there is need to raise the stakes in respect to local government in the Pacific; to improve quality of life in the towns and cities; to exemplify good governance and to develop local governments that exhibit creativity and integrity, have the confidence of the communities they serve and deliver best possible services. </div>
